A short message

Due to the recent terror attacks around the world, I’ve witnessed a shift in opinion both online and in the media. I don’t know about you, but my Facebook page has become full of facts and news reports which has been great in spreading awareness, but there have also been a number of friends and news articles  who have preached religious hatred and commented on how the refugees need to ‘go back to their own country’. A few of my good friends have deleted these comments and unfriended them. I thought about doing that too, but then, if we choose to ignore them, then all these people have left are self righteous assumptions. Instead, I thought I’d make this message, using the wordswag app, in the hope that at least one of these people will stop and think.

If we blame innocent people for these killings, if we spread fear, hatred, pain and paranoia, then we are giving Isis and other terror groups exactly what they want. The only way to fight this, is through understanding, compassion and truth. We are living in a time where we need to show solidarity more than ever. If we split because of misguided opinions and assumptions, then we have lost the one thing that makes us human; our humanity.
